The government of Tajikistan has decided to transfer airports for local airlines from municipal property of cities and districts to the balance of Republican property and the Ministry of defense of the Republic.

According to a government decision, Isfara airport, located near the border with Kyrgyzstan, was taken over from Khojand International Airport and transferred to the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan.

The airports of Farkhor district and Mir Saeed Ali Hamadani district, bordering Afghanistan, were transferred to the disposal of the Directorate of Defense Affairs. These facilities have been on the balance sheet of the Central Committee of the public organization for assistance to the defense of Tajikistan.

In addition, 18 local airline airports from municipal properties of cities and districts are placed under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense Affairs. The allocation of funds to the military, which will be mobilized to restore the airports and bring them into a permanent state of affairs, will be entrusted to the Ministry of Defense.

The list of airports transferred to the balance sheet of the Ministry of defense of Tajikistan includes:

Panj District Airport;
Shamsiddin Shakhinsky District Airport;
Dashtijum airport;
IOL airport;
Aininsky District Airport;
Istaravshan airport;
Asht District Airport;
Cannibodome City Airport;
Penjikent airport;
Ishkashim District Airport;
Rushansky District Airport;
Wanj District Airport;
Kalai Khumba airport;
Sagirdasht airport;
Lyakhshsky District Airport;
Lyakhsh airport;
Tajikabad District Airport;
Rasht District Airport.
Currently, flights are operated from only four international airports in the country: Dushanbe, Khojand, Bokhtar and Kolob.

Following the reorganization of Tajik Air GUAP in 2008, these four harbors received international airport status and became independent business entities. Khorugh airport entered the structural unit of Dushanbe International Airport. The relatively small 29 airports, on the other hand, were transferred to the balance of local authorities, and the lack of funds stopped the activities of the cause.
