In Samarkand, two brothers were sentenced to prison for beating their younger brother to death because of his gambling addiction

The incident occurred on June 20. The 29-year-old man was deeply involved in online gambling, and his brothers decided to “teach him a lesson” by tying him to a tree and beating him with an electrical cable. He died shortly after being brought into the house.
The victim’s wife said:

“We had one daughter. He used to gamble but never harmed anyone. He had taken loans and was repaying them himself. My brother-in-law said, ‘I did it so he would pay his debt,’ but 10–15 days before the tragedy, my husband had already paid nearly 7 million soms. We lived together for a year and eight months. He worked as a welder, making booths. I still can’t understand what happened between them that led to such a brutal act.”
According to the court’s verdict, the older brother was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months, and the younger brother to 6 years and 6 months in prison.
