TASHKENT, July 5 — Sputnik. The "Akhsikent" archaeological monument complex in Torakorgan district of Namangan region will be turned into a major tourism center of the valley. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The construction of open-air museums has begun in the four objects opened in the first phase of the project of turning the historical complex into a tourism center.
At the next stage, it is intended to build infrastructure facilities for tourists - a large recreation center, a crafts center and a caravanserai, as well as other facilities.
"According to the plan, a large tourist complex will be built by connecting the ancient village of Akhsikent and Akhsi by the river," the report says.

For information, Akhsikent was founded in the III century BC and was the capital of the ancient Fergana state, one of the main cities of the Great Silk Road. There was an underground water facility here long ago. In addition, crafts such as glassmaking, pottery, blacksmithing, and weaponry are well developed.
Today, about 100 hectares of Aksikent have been preserved, and it is the largest archaeological monument in the Fergana Valley. Archeologists have excavated a blacksmith's workshop, the remains of a bathhouse dating back to the 10th - 13th centuries, soldiers' quarters, a mosque, defense walls, underground irrigation networks, a craftsman's quarter, the ruler's residence - Ark.
In 2017, great works on the preservation and research of the historical monument of Ahsikent, as well as its study, began.
Let's remind that last year wall pictures from the Karakhanid period were discovered in the Ahsikent monument. It is said that pictures belonging to the Karakhanid period decorated the walls of architectural structures.
Also, in February of this year, rare coins, murals from the Karakhanid period and thousand-year-old Damascus swords were found during the ongoing research work at the Ahsikent monument.
