In Lebanon, billboards appeared with the image of Russian President Vladimir Putin holding the Qur'an. Billboards reportedly appeared in a number of cities across the country. It featured the Russian leader holding a Muslim Bible. Below it is inscribed” Guardian and protector of Religions".The organizer of this campaign, “Roslivan”, was the Office of Russian—Lebanese cooperation, and according to its head, Muhammad Nasrutdin, Putin “showed the whole world”how religions should be treated against the background of the burning of the Quran in Sweden.
He expressed gratitude to the president of Russia in Lebanon for his position on religions, in particular Islam.
"He condemned what happened in Sweden. This is not just a position, but a step that contains many meanings. He visited the mosque in Qurban Haiti, took possession of the Quran, and said that in Russia this disrespect for the Bible is a crime,” he notes.
Recall that earlier in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic of Russia, an unknown man burned several copies of the Quran in a mosque. The incident occurred on the night of July 2. The man went to a local mosque and sprayed gasoline on copies of the Qur'an, burning it. The head of the chegemsky district, Yura Borsov, said that there was no religious motive in the incident.
The defendant said he did so because of the” inner voice". It is not clear what punishment was imposed on a man.
On June 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned that disrespect for the Quran in the country was a crime “in contrast” to some other countries.
