In Kyrgyzstan, the death penalty is being revived after the murder of a 17-year-old girl

The rape and murder of 17-year-old Oysuluv Mukasheva in Kyrgyzstan shook the country and all of Central Asia. The girl disappeared on September 27, and her body was found two days later. The man who committed this heinous crime was previously tried, who took her to a neighboring village and raped her, and tortured and strangled her to death.
The man was arrested, and the investigation process was personally supervised by Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov. Also, against the background of public outcry, Sadir Japarov ordered the development of a bill reintroducing the death penalty, which was abolished in 2007 for cases of Child, Female Rape and murder.

According to the index of women, peace and security, Kyrgyzstan is considered the most dangerous state for women in Central Asia — on average, 30 women are victims of murder every year in the country.
