"Zakon.kz" reports that due to an accident at the thermal power plant in the city of Karagan, Kazakhstan, the power supply was cut off. The accident occurred at the IES this morning. Because of this, the electricity went out in the whole city. "In Karagandy, the whole city was left without electricity. The authorities say that they do not know the reason for this and that it is impossible to contact Jarik. People say that there was a serious accident at the IES, which supplies the city with energy," residents of Karaganda told the publication. The administration of the Karganda region confirmed that an accident occurred at the energy facility. However, the head of the region did not provide other details of the incident. "Dear residents of Karaganda region, this morning an accident occurred at IES-3 and Taparskaya GRES-2 of Karaganda city. At IES-3, a technological violation occurred in the form of protection activation, as a result of which the 220 kV open switchboard was turned off. The reasons and circumstances are being clarified," said Ermaganbet Bulekpayev, governor of Karaganda region. The local executive body noted that the exact number of subscribers without electricity supply is being clarified. On the instructions of the head of the region, the first deputy of the mayor went to the station where the accident happened and studied all the circumstances of the incident. However, the regional government has not announced when the electricity supply will be fully restored. First, the inhabitants of this region experienced a natural disaster. After heavy rains, the streets of the city were flooded, and the sewage system could not cope with the consequences of heavy rains.
