In Kazakhstan, akimats will manually control prices for social food products

NWPT prices continue to rise

The stabilization of prices for social food products (SFP) is coming under the manual control of regional akimats, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin said at the last meeting. November will be the determining month in shaping the level of annual food inflation.

According to the Trade Committee, in the first week of November, the increase in prices for NWPT was 0.1%, the main driver was the seasonal increase in egg prices (1.7%).

“Taking into account the risks of off-season price increases, Serik Zhumangarin instructed the akimats to manually monitor the situation with prices for social products in the regions. The Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition - to analyze the reasons for the rise in prices from large producers and inform about the identified facts next week,” - the prime minister's press service said in a statement.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated that today the regions have accumulated all the necessary reserves for the vegetable group, sugar, and buckwheat.

Also, Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov reported on the situation with the implementation of a comprehensive plan for the construction of vegetable storage facilities for 2023-2025. Today in Kazakhstan there are 901 storage facilities for vegetables and fruits with a capacity of 1.8 million tons (257 potato storage facilities with a capacity of 499.7 thousand tons, 580 vegetable storage facilities with a capacity of 1.1 million tons, 64 fruit storage facilities with a capacity of 136.9 thousand tons).

According to the plan, 272 thousand tons of tanks should be put into operation this year, 206 thousand tons in 2024 and 160 thousand tons in 2025.

Also, Serik Zhumangarin instructed the Food Corporation to study the possibilities of providing assistance to farmers with the sale of non-commercial grain of the new harvest.
