In Kazakhstan, a 10-year-old boy lived for five years with a piece of wood in his head

In the city of Pavlodar, doctors removed a piece of wood measuring nearly 2 centimeters from the head of a 10-year-old schoolboy. It was discovered that about five years ago the boy fell onto a branch and sustained a head injury. At the time, the wound was cleaned and stitched, but a fragment of wood remained inside.

Over time, swelling began to develop in the child’s temple area. Medical examinations and a CT scan revealed a foreign object in the brain. During surgery, a wooden fragment measuring 1.5–2 centimeters was successfully removed.

The boy’s condition is currently stable, and he is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.
