The Cyberspace Administration of China has presented new draft regulations on the use of mobile devices and the Internet by minors. If the bill is adopted, teenagers will be limited to using smartphones for a maximum of 2 hours a day, reports the "Rosettked" portal, citing a document of the Chinese Ministry. According to the project, children under the age of 8 will be allowed to use the phone up to 40 minutes a day, children under the age of 8-11 will be allowed to use the phone for 1 hour a day, and teenagers aged 16-17 will be allowed to use the phone for up to 2 hours. Also, it is prohibited for those under 18 to use the mobile Internet from 22:00 to 06:00. Excludes educational programs, personal security services, emergency calls, and certified mental and physical development programs. The project is a continuation of China's policy to limit the influence of online games on children and adolescents. Officials will discuss the project until September 2023. For reference, in 2021, China introduced a rule that minors could use gaming platforms only on Fridays and weekends from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
