China has launched a high-speed railway line, nearly 20 kilometers of which will cross the sea, Xinhua news agency reports. The 277-kilometer expressway connects Fuzhou City and Xiamen Port, then crosses three bays—Xuanzhouwan, Meizhouwan, and Anhaiwan—to Zhangzhou. The train can reach a speed of 350 kilometers per hour on the part of the railway that passes over water. The total travel time for this route is one hour.
