In Andijan, the bank of the Fergana Canal collapsed, causing water to overflow

Today, at around 8:00 am, an emergency occurred on the South Fergana Canal, which flows through the Andijan region. During the construction of a small hydroelectric power station, the bank of the canal was washed away and the dam collapsed.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, water entered about 100 houses: 30 were flooded to the interior, and 70 were flooded only to the courtyards.

Following the incident, an emergency working group was formed and arrived at the scene. For now, water discharge from the Andijan reservoir has been suspended, and 30 cubic meters/second of water remains in the canal. This will also be completely suspended by 2:00 pm.

10 dump trucks, 4 forklifts, 2 bulldozers, 8 excavators, and more than 50 workers were involved in eliminating the emergency.
