Important tasks for further development of public transport system identified

The President reviewed a presentation on further development of public transport system in the regions and acceleration of work in this regard. It was noted that over the past three years, 2,650 modern electric buses and buses have been delivered to the capital and regional centers, and 279 regular routes have been launched on a gross contract basis. As a result, the number of buses operating daily has reached 3,150, and daily trips have reached 45.2 thousand. The flow of passengers has increased by 2.3 million people. The presentation discussed the development of public transport based on a single agglomeration system due to urbanization and increasing population movement around cities. It was proposed to transfer new bus routes covering areas up to 12 kilometers from the city center to the gross contract system.
It was also noted that by connecting the Nazarbek, Shifobaksh Suvly and Uch Kahraman regions of Tashkent region with the capital, the flow of cars can be reduced by at least 20 percent. It is planned to create 19 new routes in the capital and 79 in regional centers.
The meeting noted the need for another 1,500 large and medium-capacity buses in the regions. In this regard, it was proposed to encourage the import of modern buses, expand credit lines for entrepreneurs, and extend the period of exemption from the disposal fee for another two years.
The President also noted the need to create safe and decent working conditions for bus drivers. To this end, the task was set to increase the number of drivers per bus from 2 to 3, improve service quality and traffic safety. In addition, it is planned to adapt bus traffic to passenger traffic by introducing artificial intelligence technologies into dispatching systems. This, it was said, could reduce transportation costs by 10-15 percent. The Head of State gave instructions to expand "green transport" routes in large cities such as Samarkand and Namangan, as well as to develop public transport in tourist centers such as Khiva, Shakhrisabz, Margilan, and Kokand.
