Immigration officials in the United States arrest a 5-year-old boy

Liam Conejo Ramos, 5, was taken home from preschool in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Zena Stanwick, the superintendent of the local school district, said the boy was pulled from the family's moving car. Stanwick said the agents forced the boy to knock on the door and check to see if anyone else was home, calling it "child-baiting."
However, ICE denied the allegations, saying the boy had been abandoned. The main target of the operation was the boy's father, who is from Ecuador, and the father and son were eventually arrested together. The family's lawyer stressed that they came to the United States legally and did not have deportation orders.
Liam Ramos is currently being held in an immigration detention center in Texas with his father. This situation is causing heated public debate amid recent increased deportation efforts in Minnesota and other areas.
