Hungary supports Turkmenistan's proposal to develop a Global Security Strategy that Turkmenistan will put forward to the UN, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said after a telephone conversation with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov on Thursday.
Every proposal to strengthen the UN Charter, peacefully resolve conflicts politically, and support diplomatic efforts to prevent wars is important now, Szijjártó wrote in a Facebook post. "If ever there was a time to enforce the UN Charter and its goals, this is certainly it," the Hungarian Telegraph Agency, MTI, quoted the minister as saying.
“We support everything that can finally lead to peace in any part of the world, especially in our neighboring country,” the Hungarian foreign minister said, adding that he also reaffirmed this position to his Turkmen counterpart.
Earlier, Turkmenistan announced its priority positions at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
Thus, Turkmenistan considers it necessary to use the potential of the UN in order to give a balanced, non-ideological assessment of current events and trends, overcome mistrust and confrontational tension in world politics, and try to identify prospects for compromise and mutual consideration of interests.
In this context, Turkmenistan proposes to start discussing the possibilities of developing a Global Security Strategy.
