How to keep a house cool without air conditioning? Experts recommend simple methods.
During hot summer days, it is possible to maintain coolness without an AC. The key is to trap the morning cool air inside by opening windows until around 8–9 a.m., then closing them tightly and drawing blinds or curtains once the air starts to heat up. This prevents sunlight from entering and helps preserve the cooler indoor air. Additionally, placing a bowl of ice in front of a fan or hanging a damp sheet over an open window can slightly lower room temperature.
Experts emphasize that these methods cannot fully replace air conditioning, but when combined with proper ventilation and shading, they can provide significant comfort during extreme heat. Most importantly, ventilation should only be done when the outside air is cooler than the inside.
