The use of the Internet and the creation of electronic libraries to increase the interest of young people in books became the topic of the conference, which was held at the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes.
Library staff and other specialists in the field of education and culture gathered at one platform to exchange experiences and share views on the further development of librarianship in Turkmenistan and the world as a whole.
The speakers outlined their vision of how to attract more young people to libraries not only physically, but also digitally through the creation of special websites and forums of interest. So young people will be able to get acquainted with the activities of libraries remotely, learn about the appearance of new books, as well as communicate with other users, exchange opinions about what they have read, and consult on various issues.
The key conclusion from the participants' presentations is the following: new technologies are the key to the development of librarianship. And the more actively libraries introduce electronic innovations into their activities, the more often they update their digital resources, the more popular they will be able to win among a young audience.
