How many schoolchildren in Tajikistan study in Russian?

The Russian Federation has made a great contribution to expanding the scope of Russian-language education in the country, including with an emphasis on in-depth study of Russian culture by young people

Russia is actively promoting the interest of Tajiks in the Russian language.

This was announced by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Dushanbe Semyon Grigoriev during the scientific and practical conference "Multicultural and multilingual education in Tajikistan."

Thus, more than 120 thousand Tajik schoolchildren receive education in Russian, and the rest have it in the list of academic subjects.

“The result of our common work can be illustrated with several figures - in Tajikistan, 60 schools teach only in Russian, and another 178 schools have Russian classes,” the diplomat informed.

Grigoriev recalled that in the republic the study of the Russian language is included in the school curriculum from 2nd to 11th grade. There are only 9 thousand teachers teaching this subject.

“It is gratifying that these numbers are constantly growing thanks to the efforts of the government of Tajikistan and the initiatives of private business,” the ambassador noted.

The diplomat also appreciated the contribution of the Russian Federation to the development of Russian-language education in the republic, including with an emphasis on in-depth study of Russian culture and traditions by Tajik youth.

Let us recall that earlier Grigoriev drew attention to the fact that in the Commonwealth, 2023 has been declared the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication.
