There were 2,024 crimes committed by 2,121 minors in the eight months of 2023.
According to the data, the crimes involved 1,424 students of schools, 291 students of academic lyceums and vocational training institutions, 142 people who walked without work (graduated from school), and 264 working minors.
Statistics show that 1,472 minors were convicted in 2021, up from 2,116 in 2022. In the previous year 2022, crimes of greater social risk were 389, while crimes of lesser severity were 510.
Earlier, at the meeting of the Senate Committee on youth, culture and sports, the law “on additional and amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the further liberalization of criminal liability for minors”was discussed. This law establishes that a person who has served a sentence for a non-serious crime committed before the age of 18 is not considered to have been convicted.
