In Uzbekistan, 716,885 births were recorded in 9 months.
According to preliminary data from the statistical agency, 716,885 live births were reported in the Republic of Uzbekistan by the FHDY authorities in January-September 2023. This figure increased by 5.1 percent compared to the corresponding period last year. Of those born in 9 months of 2023:
371,597 boys;
345,288 are female children.
Why is the birth rate in the world declining?
While the view of the reduction of the world's population seems unsettling, the decrease in fertility is usually perceived as a triumph of socio-economic development.
As the development and standard of living of countries improves, changes in the norms and aspirations of society are taking place. For example, expanded educational and career opportunities for women pave the way for professional growth and pursuit of personal goals, with some women seeking to delay family building or not to have many children.
Growing urbanization is another major factor in fertility decline. Another reason is the increased access to family planning services and contraceptives, especially since the 1970s.
What are the future consequences?
The biggest consequence of the decline in fertility is the rapid aging of the population. This is already observed in the countries of the world.
After the low birth of children, the proportion of the elderly increases compared to the working population. This demographic imbalance creates challenges for Social Security, health care, and pension systems.
Decreased fertility can also affect the labor market and economic efficiency. That is, it causes a shortage of Labor, skilled personnel and a decrease in innovation. Population shrinkage reduces consumption demand, which is the cornerstone of the global economy, which can force the reconstruction of the current model of development.
