"Hokims are acting like mothers-in-law" — Kusherbayev criticizes home cleanliness inspections

Rasul Kusherbayev, adviser to the Chairman of the Ecology Committee and a former member of parliament, has criticized the practice of local hokims visiting residents' homes, inspecting the cleanliness of their houses and yards, and posting the inspections on social media.

According to Kusherbayev, such actions fall outside the legal authority of hokims. Describing the situation, he remarked that "hokims are acting like mothers-in-law" and added that, where appropriate, such conduct could result in legal liability.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's Anti-Corruption Agency has submitted a formal recommendation to the Kashkadarya Regional Hokimiyat following the circulation of a video showing the Shahrisabz District hokim entering a resident's home, criticizing its sanitary condition, and ordering that the resident be fined.

The agency stated that violating citizens' privacy, undermining their dignity, and applying unjustified administrative pressure are contrary to the law and ethical standards. It called for an internal investigation and a legal assessment of the incident.
