HIV testing will be mandatory for citizens returning from abroad

Citizens aged 18-60 who have been abroad for more than 90 days and who have returned to Uzbekistan, as well as foreigners arriving for work, will undergo mandatory HIV (AIDS) testing. The draft law on this has been adopted in the third reading in the Legislative Chamber and sent to the Senate.
The testing will be carried out at the expense of the budget for local citizens, and at the expense of foreigners at their own expense or at the expense of their employer.
According to the initiators, HIV infection can be detected in the body after 90 days. Out of 434 thousand people who underwent voluntary testing in 2023, 1,512 were found to be infected with this disease. The law is aimed at protecting public health and preventing the spread of the disease.
