Historic session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand

The 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference has begun in Samarkand. Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the conference and held meetings within its framework.

The President, emphasizing the need to expand cooperation with UNESCO and achieve common goals in the humanitarian, educational, and cultural spheres, put forward the following five initiatives:

1. Inclusive education and artificial intelligence - creating equal educational opportunities for all children, organizing the "Artificial Intelligence - School" project and an international expert conference.

2. Preservation of intangible cultural heritage - establishing the "International Day of Documentary Heritage", organizing a digital heritage institute and a congress in Bukhara.

3. Developing women's leadership - organizing a UNESCO Academy and a Global Forum for Women.

4. Climate change and ecology - the "UNESCO Ecological Capital" initiative, protecting cultural heritage from climate change, and a symposium in Khiva.

5. Information security and media literacy - developing a children's cultural content festival and a UNESCO media strategy.

Mirziyoyev also emphasized the need to strengthen interfaith tolerance and combat radicalism and Islamophobia through Islamic culture.
