Health of Mubashshir Ahmad reportedly deteriorates sharply in prison

The health of Alisher Tursunov, known by the alias Mubashshir Ahmad, has reportedly deteriorated sharply in prison due to diabetes and other serious illnesses. According to his lawyer, Abdullokh Sodiq, he is being forced to perform hard labor at Penal Colony No. 5 in Qiziltepa district. His legs are swollen, his kidneys are not functioning properly, he has developed sores on his body, and he also suffers from high blood pressure.

Lawyers state that Tursunov is not receiving adequate medical care and is not allowed to undergo proper treatment. Under Article 75 of the Criminal Code, prisoners suffering from serious illnesses may be released from serving their sentence. In this regard, the defense has filed applications with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and other authorities.

Mubashshir Ahmad was convicted of inciting national and religious hatred and distributing illegal religious materials, and on October 8, 2025, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
