Head of "Roots of Peace": Agricultural land in Karabakh heavily mined

Azerbaijan is one of the most mine-contaminated countries.

Report informs, the founder and CEO of the humanitarian organization "Roots of Peace" Heidi Kuhn said at the international humanitarian conference on mine action on the topic "Mine Threat Control - the Path to Sustainable Development".

The speaker noted that more than one million mines have been installed in the country, including in agricultural areas. According to her, many areas intended for growing grapes in Karabakh are mined and are very dangerous for gardeners: "Many fruit-bearing trees grow in Karabakh. The solution of the mine issue is important for the development of gardening in these territories."
