Hazardous gas stations in Uzbekistan to be relocated

The government of Uzbekistan has announced plans to relocate gas stations situated in dangerous or high-risk areas to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.

By April 1, 2026, local authorities in Karakalpakstan, all regions, and Tashkent city must move fuel stations that do not meet safety and urban planning standards to safer locations.

🔹 Costs related to relocation or demolition will be compensated according to the law.
🔹 New plots with developed infrastructure will be allocated for the relocated stations.
🔹 Stations wishing to change their type of activity will be granted permission to operate in other sectors.

An inspection revealed over 46,000 violations across 6,196 gas stations, with 464 temporarily suspended.

The government also plans to test the qualifications of gas station employees annually, ensure regular inspections of high-pressure equipment, and develop special software to detect potential hazards in advance.
The public discussion of the proposal will continue until November 11.
