Greece to punish those who sell tobacco or alcohol to minors and those who send them to buy them

Now in Greece, both those who order children to buy tobacco or alcohol and those who sell them are considered criminals. According to the new draft law, tobacco and alcohol products will be sold only on the basis of an identity document.
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said that the measure is aimed at protecting young people from harmful habits. The law also provides for strict punishment for bartenders and waiters who knowingly serve alcohol to minors.

The measure comes against the backdrop of moves to raise taxes and prices on tobacco products in the European Union. At the same time, Athens is concerned that sharp price increases will harm the economy.
