Grandmasters from all over the world will come to Tajikistan: where will the tournaments be held

Two international chess competitions among players of different age groups are planned to be held on the territory of Tajikistan at once

An international chess tournament is planned to be held in Tajikistan.

It will be held in the Devashtich district of the Sughd region, the Khovar agency reports with reference to the head of the department of physical education and sports development of the central office of the Committee for Youth and Sports Muhammadtolib Shokirzoda.

Games will be held from 25 to 27 August.

After that, a national chess tournament will be held in Dushanbe from 1 to 4 September. The best young chess players from around the world will take part in it.

It is worth noting that July 20 is annually celebrated as International Chess Day.

This is one of the oldest national games of Tajiks, it appeared in the VI century.

Some researchers believe that chess has a 1400-year history. Historians attribute the origin of chess to the 6th century AD.

This sport has been supported and developed in the republic in recent years.

So, every year the country hosts the Tajik President's Chess Cup. It was established in 2019. The tournament is held in 4 stages. They are categorized between professional players and amateurs.

The total amount of prizes of the tournament is 100 thousand somoni. In team competitions, a prize of 30,000 somoni is provided for the first place, 25,000 somoni for the second place, and 20,000 somoni for the third place.
