Berlin intends to negotiate an agreement with Georgia, Moldova, Kenya, Colombia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to combat illegal migration.
The German federal government is negotiating with a number of countries on a "migration cooperation" that will ensure the rapid return of illegal migrants from Germany to their homeland. At the moment, it is talking about six countries, said the representative of the country'S HIV on Tuesday, October 3. These are Georgia, Moldova, Kenya, Colombia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Negotiations with the two countries of Central Asia have already moved much further. A memorandum of understanding was signed with Uzbekistan in early May and with Kyrgyzstan in late September. According to the press secretary, it is about reducing the number of illegal immigrants and at the same time creating opportunities for legal immigration to Germany.

Joachim Stamp, the German government's Special Commissioner for migration arrangements, negotiated in Kenya in September.

Colombia, a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that this list was included, in particular, due to the fact that the number of Appeals of citizens of the country for asylum increased from 140 in 2018 to 1,500 in the first half of 2023. He clarified that"Georgia and Moldova have a special priority, since more than ten percent of the rejected applications for asylum in Germany came only from citizens of these two states". Thus, from January to August 2023, 7,405 appeals were received from citizens of Georgia and 2,124 from Moldova. The governments of Tbilisi and Kishinyov expressed their readiness for negotiations.

Meanwhile, the federal government has a ready migration agreement with India.
