The ruling party of Georgia took the initiative to impeach the president who traveled to Europe.

Georgian Dream party has decided to start the impeachment process against President Salome Zurabishvili, "Mtavari" TV channel reports.

The party accuses Zurabishvili of violating the constitution. "Because he traveled abroad without the permission of the government," said Mamuka Mdinaradze, executive secretary of the Georgian Dream party.

On August 31, Zurabishvili went to Germany to hold talks with President Frank Walter-Steinmeier. He started a series of meetings with European leaders in order to support granting Georgia the status of a candidate state for the European Union, the presidential administration said.
