Gaza death toll tops 50,000

The death toll from Israel's offensive on Gaza has surpassed 50,000, with more than 113,000 injured. 17,000 of the dead are children. The Gaza Health Ministry said this was only the number of people registered at medical facilities, and it was not clear how many more were missing or trapped under the rubble. The Israeli military says it is targeting Hamas members, but analysts say the civilian death toll suggests otherwise.

After a two-month truce, Israel has resumed airstrikes on Gaza, killing more than 400 people in the initial attacks.
