According to the new agreement reached between the neighbors, citizens of the two countries can now use an identification ID card to enter, exit, transit, move and stay in the territory of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
From August 25, 2023, the Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement on the Mutual Arrival and Departure of Citizens between the Governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan came into force. This protocol was signed on January 27, 2023 in Bishkek.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the actual use of the identification ID card for entering, exiting, transiting, moving and staying in the territory of the two countries - according to mutual agreement, 1st of 2023 September will be launched from 00:00.
"According to the amendments introduced by the Protocol, a simplified single procedure for crossing the state border was introduced for citizens of the two countries. In particular, from now on, citizens of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan can enter, move and stay in the territories of the two countries with an identification ID card for up to 60 days," said the statement of the MFA.
Also, citizens of Uzbekistan can enter and exit Kyrgyzstan and transit to other countries with a biometric passport for going abroad.
