In Kazakhstan, a solution to the problem of an electric deficit was found. According to the National Company, it is necessary to increase the capacity of the stations to 44 gvt due to the construction of new production systems to compensate for the growing demand in the framework of the “energy balance of Kazakhstan until 2035”. To achieve this, it is planned to carry out six large-scale projects for the development of external power supply networks.
"It is also planned to connect the Western Zone, which has so far been separate, to a single electricity system. This measure is carried out in two stages. Next, 220-250 kV overhead lines of the Akmola, eastern, northern and Central main power networks will be reconstructed,” the energy company said in a message.
In addition, KEGOC added the construction of 500 kV overhead lines on the “Ostona – Karaganda – Nura” route. There will also be a direct route from Ekibastuz to Jombil in a “North-South” direction. According to the company's estimates, this measure will increase the capacity in this direction and compensate for the need for electricity in the south of Kazakhstan in the future. In addition, the transit potential of the country will improve.
” On the condition of the implementation of this project, there is no need to build a direct flow line from Russia to Kyrgyzstan through Kazakhstan, " the National Company added.
Sergey Agafonov, head of the Association of energy supply organizations of Kazakhstan, believes that the Project “North-South” primarily eliminates the need to build at least two additional alternating current chains from North to south of the country. He argues that fixed power lines can transmit large amounts of electricity over long distances with less loss. Against this background, Kazakhstan will have additional potential in the field of interstate electricity supply. For the implementation of this project, it is necessary to apply for joint financing by the state, based on its strategic nature. The amount of funds will depend on the specifics of the project.
"For example, China prefers to build fixed lines with a voltage of 800 kV and higher. One such project of 970 miles will cost China $ 3.45 billion. The line transmits solar and wind energy from the High Plains of Tibet to central China. In the future, such extremely high — voltage power lines will cover the whole world, and Kazakhstan should take a worthy place in this ‘super grid ' with its transit potential,”the expert predicted.
Recall that earlier Jaqip Khairushev, managing director of the research and production enterprise” Atameken", mentioned under what conditions the export potential of Kazakhstan's unified energy system will increase. Among them are power lines of high voltage classes with high conductivity. The National Chamber fully supports the national power grid development plan until 2035 and proposes a number of initiatives in these major projects.
