Former World Boxing Association (WBA Super) world champion Beibut Shumenov beat a man walking with a child in a shopping and entertainment center in Astana, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported.

The man holding the child in his arms at the time of the fight was injured in his body and referred to forensic medicine examination. Deputy Interior Minister Kairat Suntaev said that the boy was not injured during the fight. An official investigation is underway against the district inspector who was involved in this incident and could not find any corpus delicti.

“We are currently dealing with this issue. A hooligan case has been launched. The crime is not serious, we are waiting for investigation. But the victim demands that he be held criminally responsible,” Suntaev said.

Shumenov is 39 years old. In 2016, the boxer became the first Kazakh world champion in two weight categories: light heavyweight (WBA Super) and first heavyweight (WBA Regular).
