Former South Korean First Lady Sentenced to 7 Years
Kim Gong-hee, the wife of former South Korean President Yun Seok-yol, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison in a corruption case. According to court records, Kim Gong-hee received luxury gifts worth a total of 290 million won (about 190 thousand US dollars) from businessmen and officials in exchange for resolving various issues. They are said to have included handbags from the Dior and Chanel brands and expensive jewelry.
Recall that earlier the death penalty was requested for the former South Korean president in the case of attempting to impose martial law in 2024.
