Former Polish president unhappy with pension

Former Polish President Lech Walesa has expressed dissatisfaction with the size of his presidential pension, calling the country poor.
According to him, if his pension had been sufficient, he would not have continued to work. Now he is on various trips and is active.

“Am I satisfied with my pension? If that were the case, I would have gone mushroom picking or fishing right now. But I am still traveling and working all over the world,” he says.

His pension is 75 percent of the salary of the current head of state. This is approximately 13,691 zlotys ($3,800) per month.
Lech Walesa is also entitled to a regular pension from the Gdansk Shipyard, where he used to work. However, he said that he has not received this amount for the past 20 years.

The former president has previously expressed dissatisfaction with the issue of pensions. He led Poland from 1990 to 1995 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983.
