On January 5, around 50 sheep broke away from their herd and ran into a Penny supermarket in the town of Burgzinn in Bavaria. The animals wandered around the store for about 20 minutes and were in no hurry to leave, despite attempts by staff and customers to usher them out. Most shoppers took the “sheep invasion” with a sense of humor. Store manager Philipp Stiller said the supermarket would not seek compensation from the shepherd, calling the incident free publicity.
