Scientists of the Norwegian Institute of Health have identified five professions that cause dementia. The name of the disease comes from the Latin de ("from") and mens ("mind", "perception") and can be literally translated as "a state of separation from one's own mind". "With dementia, cognitive activity decreases, some knowledge and skills are lost." The patient becomes forgetful, cannot remember new information and loses the ability to think logically. He doesn't even recognize or confuses his loved ones. According to them, people who do heavy physical work suffer from dementia more than others, techinsider.ru reports, citing the research publication Science Direct. According to the results of a survey conducted among the population of Norway in 2017-2019, out of 7,000 respondents, 902 were diagnosed with dementia, and 2,400 with mild cognitive impairment. But problems related to mental abilities are 15.5% more common among those engaged in heavy physical labor. Based on these surveys, Norwegian scientists compiled a list of the most dangerous occupations, including cashiers, sales consultants, medical workers, farmers and livestock specialists. Scientists say that such workers often devote all their energy to their professional activities. Consequently, they will not have enough time for rest and self-development. At the same time, researchers have noted that physical activity during leisure time improves mental ability. Source: Khabar.uz
