Five new flood reservoirs to be built in Uzbekistan

The presidential decree aimed at the effective use of flood and flood waters stipulated the construction of five new flood reservoirs in Uzbekistan in the Jizzakh, Samarkand and Tashkent regions during 2027-2030.
According to the project, the Tangatopdisoy flood reservoirs in the Bakhmal district of the Jizzakh region, Gijduvonsoy and Choshtepasoy in the Urgut district of the Samarkand region, Oktepasoy in the Kushrabot district, and Oksokotasoy in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region will be built.
As a result of the commissioning of the new reservoirs, the water supply of thousands of hectares of land will be improved and new agricultural areas will be developed.

Some projects will also be implemented on the basis of public-private partnerships. It is also planned to organize tourist and recreational zones and fisheries around the reservoirs.
According to experts, these projects will help effectively use flood and flood waters, increase agricultural production, and create new jobs.
