Five citizens of Tajikistan were detained in Germany for preparing a terrorist attack

Law enforcement agencies of Germany detained on Thursday seven Islamists who were going to stage a terrorist attack. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Germany, reports TASS.

We are talking about five citizens of Tajikistan, one citizen of Turkmenistan and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan. All of them arrived in Germany in the spring of 2022 from the territory of Ukraine, according to a press release. The suspects maintained contacts with representatives of ISIS (the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation).

“At the end of June 2022, they formed a terrorist cell with the aim of carrying out high-profile terrorist attacks in Germany,” the report says. “In order to implement their plan, the suspects were already picking up targets in Germany, inspecting possible places for committing crimes and trying to get weapons. However, to date, they have not had a concrete plan for the attack."

The arrests were carried out in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the west of Germany. It is expected that during the day the suspects will be placed under arrest.
