🎣 Fishing Festival in Nigeria

After a six-year hiatus, the Argungu Fishing Festival, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was held again in Nigeria. In 39-degree heat, thousands of participants competed in the Matan Fada River to catch the biggest fish using only their hands and nets. Ancient traditions, noisy spectacles and cultural performances gave the festival a special atmosphere. The highlight of the competition belonged to local fisherman Abubakar Usman. He caught a huge fish weighing 59 kilograms and became the winner of the festival. This result brought him two cars and a cash prize of 1 million naira.
