Fire Breaks Out at Construction Market in Tashkent

A fire broke out early in the morning on February 21 at the “Izza” construction market in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a report was received at 05:09 about burning door frame products at the market located on Quvonch 2-tor Street. The fire was extinguished in nearly one hour. No injuries were reported.

About 200 square meters of goods were damaged, while firefighters managed to save around 2,000 square meters of the area.

It was noted that on February 16 the market had been inspected for fire safety violations, its operations were temporarily suspended, and electricity was cut off for three days. Authorities stated that unaddressed violations may have caused the fire. An investigation is ongoing.
