Fines for marriage with minors may be increased in Uzbekistan

A draft law aimed at protecting the rights of women and children has been submitted for public discussion. The Ministry of Justice reported this.
The draft law prohibits marriage between close relatives - uncles, aunts, and their nephews, as well as cousins, uncles, cousins, and cousins. This prohibition does not apply if one of the parties is adopted or stepbrothers and is not a blood relative. In cases related to pregnancy or childbirth, the governor may reduce the age of marriage by no more than 1 year.
Responsibility for entering into marital relations with a person under the age of majority is being sharply increased. According to the proposal, the fine will be set at 50-100 times the minimum wage (20.6 million - 41.2 million soums), or 240-300 hours of compulsory community service, or up to 2 years of correctional labor.
Currently, the fine for this act is 20-30 times the MHC (8.24 million - 12.36 million soums) or lighter penalties.
