Filming of “The Batman 2” has been temporarily suspended

Warner Bros. and DC Studios have temporarily suspended production on “The Batman 2.” The decision was reportedly prompted by director Matt Reeves’ family circumstances.

Studio representatives expressed their support for the director and said they hope filming will resume soon.

Robert Pattinson will once again portray Bruce Wayne in the film. Scarlett Johansson, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Andy Serkis and Jeffrey Wright are also set to appear in the project.

The release date for “The Batman 2” has already been postponed several times. The film was initially scheduled to premiere on October 2, 2026. It was later pushed back to October 1, 2027, and then moved to February 2028.

The first “The Batman,” directed by Matt Reeves, was released in 2022. Starring Robert Pattinson, the film grossed more than $770 million worldwide and received three Oscar nominations.
