Father Who Avoided Paying Child Support for 3 Years Found Hiding in a Barn in Sirdarya

A man from Uzbekistan’s Sirdarya region who had been evading child support payments for three years was finally found hiding in a livestock barn.

According to court documents, he owed 63 million soums in unpaid alimony to his ex-wife for the support of their children. To avoid payment, the man had been moving between different regions, trying to conceal his whereabouts.

Authorities eventually located him working at a cattle farm in the Khatirchi district of Navoi region. Following the court’s decision, the man was sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention for deliberately avoiding his legal obligations.

Officials stated that enforcement proceedings to recover the unpaid child support are ongoing, emphasizing that similar cases will be met with strict legal measures to ensure financial responsibility toward children.
