Failure to report early marriage or pregnancy in girls under 16 could lead to penalties

A proposal has been made in Uzbekistan to impose fines on those who fail to report instances of early marriage or pregnancy involving girls under the age of 16 to the relevant authorities. A draft law regarding this matter has been submitted for public discussion until September 19.
Under the draft law, representatives of citizens' self-government bodies, Civil Registry Offices (FHDY), educational and medical institutions, and religious organizations would be required to notify law enforcement agencies and "Inson" social service centers if they become aware of cases of early marriage or pregnancy in girls under 16.
The proposal suggests fines ranging from 3 to 5 times the Base Calculation Amount (BCA) for citizens and employees, and 5 to 10 times the BCA for officials. If the violation is repeated within one year, the fine could increase to 5–10 times the BCA for citizens and employees, and 10–15 times the BCA for officials.
