Explosions in Samarkand: Tourism Committee stresses need for advance warning of residents

The Tourism Committee held a discussion with the regional administration regarding the blasting operations carried out in the Akboyra tourist village in Samarkand region, and it was emphasized that in the future, blasting operations should be carried out with advance warning to the population and at a specific time. This was announced at a press conference organized on the reforms being implemented in the tourism sector, CASIAUZ correspondent reports.

A report prepared by Kun.uz reflects that the explosions damaged homes and frightened children and citizens. It was also noted that stones fell on the roofs and walls of some houses. The blasting operations were carried out on the basis of a special permit at the Mironqul-III mine. However, studies have revealed that some stone fragments flew beyond the established safe distance.

The ministry announced that compensation had been paid for the damage and that measures had been identified to strengthen security measures, implement a warning system, and reduce the volume of explosions in the future.
