On May 27, an explosion occurred at the Shandong Youdao Chemical plant in Gaomi, Shandong Province, China. The incident caused a huge fireball and columns of smoke, and many houses had their windows broken. The plant is the world's largest producer of the pesticide chlorpyrifos. The exact number of victims and the cause of the explosion are not yet known. Rescue and medical assistance are being carried out by authorities.
