Europe aims to restrict children's use of social media.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has proposed restricting social media use for children under the age of 13.
Under the proposal, children under 13 would be barred from using social media, while those under 15 would not be permitted to open independent accounts. Special accounts supervised by parents or guardians could be introduced for the 13–15 age group.
Such accounts would feature restricted functions and time limits on usage; von der Leyen mentioned the possibility of a one-hour daily limit.
For users aged 15 to 18, platforms would be required to implement safety-by-design features. It is also proposed that platforms themselves must demonstrate the safety of their services for children.
These measures have been put forward as part of a legislative initiative known as the "EU Kids Act." However, this is not yet an enforceable ban; the proposal must undergo the European Union's standard legislative processes before it can take effect.
