Escaped Prisoner Arrested in Akhangaran on Suspicion of Assaulting a Child

Reports on social media claimed that in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region, a prisoner escaped from a settlement colony and attacked a young schoolgirl.
According to the investigation, a 31-year-old man in the Akhangaran district was detained on suspicion of committing indecent acts against a minor.

It was determined that the suspect had been sentenced in 2018 to 16 years in prison for a similar crime but was transferred in 2024 to a settlement-type colony.
On October 16, 2025, he escaped during work but was caught shortly afterward.
An investigation is currently underway.

Earlier, following a similar incident in Namangan, a proposal to impose life imprisonment for pedophiles was discussed in Uzbekistan.
