Erdoğan read an excerpt from a poem by Cholpon

On December 15, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took part in an event held at the Justice and Development Party Congress Center. In his speech marking the World Day of the Turkic Language Family, he congratulated the Turkic world and read an excerpt from the poem “Beautiful Turkestan” by Uzbek poet Abdulhamid Sulaymon o‘g‘li Cholpon. Erdoğan noted that during the repression period of the 1930s, Cholpon expressed the pain of his nation through his poetry and paid for it with his life.
